Diabetic Foot Assessment

Our Medi-Pedi combines professional podiatry care with a relaxing, indulgent foot treatment, leaving your feet feeling healthy, smooth and refreshed.

What does a Medi-Pedi include?

Your treatment begins with a comprehensive routine podiatry treatment tailored to the needs of your feet. This includes:

  • Removal of calluses and areas of hard skin
  • Professional corn care, where appropriate
  • Nail trimming and shaping
  • Cuticle care
  • General assessment of the skin and nails

Following your podiatry treatment, hydrating oils are applied. These help replenish moisture and improve the softness, suppleness and appearance of dry, rough or cracked skin.

Paraffin Wax Treatment

For an extra level of warmth and hydration, warm medical-grade paraffin wax can be applied to the feet in layers. The feet are then wrapped in individual foot bags allowing the gentle heat and moisturising properties of the wax to work on the skin.

Paraffin wax provides a soothing form of heat therapy and can help to soften dry, rough skin while temporarily easing feelings of stiffness and discomfort. The warmth may also help promote local circulation and create a relaxing sensation throughout the feet and ankles.

The treatment is completed with a luxurious foot massage, helping you to relax while leaving your feet feeling soft, nourished and rejuvenated.

How does paraffin wax work?

Paraffin wax retains heat and gradually transfers warmth to the treated area. This gentle heat can help relax muscles and soft tissues, temporarily ease joint stiffness and discomfort, and promote local blood flow.

The wax also forms a warm, occlusive layer over the skin, helping to lock in moisture. This can soften dry, rough skin and improve the feel and appearance of areas affected by dryness and cracking.

Paraffin wax can be enjoyed as a standalone treatment, added to a routine podiatry appointment, or included as part of our Medi-Pedi package.

Is paraffin wax suitable for everyone?

Paraffin wax treatment is not suitable for everyone. Your podiatrist will assess your feet and discuss your medical history to ensure the treatment is appropriate and safe for you.

Paraffin wax should generally be avoided where there is:

  • Broken, open or damaged skin
  • Active wounds or skin infections
  • Certain vascular or circulatory conditions
  • Varicose veins where heat therapy is not appropriate
  • Reduced or altered sensation, including sensory loss associated with diabetic neuropathy
  • An inability to reliably detect heat

If you have diabetes, circulatory problems, reduced sensation, or any other condition that may affect the safety of heat treatments, please inform your podiatrist before treatment.

If paraffin wax is not appropriate for you, your podiatrist can recommend a suitable alternative.

Whether your feet need some professional attention or you simply want to enjoy a little extra care and relaxation, our Medi-Pedi combines clinical podiatry with a luxurious finishing treatment for a truly comprehensive foot-care experience.
